Falls-from-ladders are a leading cause of fall injury and death. In the US, more than 500,000 people a year are treated, and about 300 people die, from ladder-related fall injuries.
The estimated annual cost of ladder injuries in the US is $11 billion, including work loss, medical, legal, liability, and pain and suffering expenses.
Recent analysis of data from three surveillance systems showed that in 2011, work-related ladder fall injuries in the U.S. resulted in 113 fatalities, an estimated 15,460 nonfatal injuries that involved days away from work, and an estimated 34,000 nonfatal injuries treated in emergency departments.
The leading cause of ladder-related injuries, in approximately 40% of cases, is a ladder sliding-out at the base due to an incorrect ladder setup angle. Ladder users tend to set extension ladders at shallower angles than the desired optimal angle (75.5 degrees).
The Kattsafe Ladder Support Brackets are designed to provide a secure attachment point for portable ladders when accessing a roof. The support bracket prevents movement of portable ladders in any direction. With the support bracket fastened to the wall or roof edge, there is then a clear, designated roof access area.
Features
Simple installation using standard fasteners
Prevents sideways movement and ladder base slip
Includes plastic coated steel cable for securing ladder to support bracket
High strength stainless steel construction
Low aesthetic profile, minimal visual impact
The LD401 wall mount and the LD402 top mount brackets can be used at strategic points around a building to allow contractors to safely mount a portable ladder and access the roof. LD401 wall mount ladder supports can also be fixed to the wall to provide a secure, fixed point for accessing a fixed ladder that starts part way up a building.
